Even though the majority of household financial decisions are made by women, marketing campaigns tend to target men. By focusing advertising efforts on women, brands have an opportunity to create connections with an underutilized market. ​

According to a Forbes article, companies need to focus on ways to appeal to both genders, not just males. Women look for deeper connections, such as exceptional customer service and excellent quality of products. This means businesses need to highlight these strengths in their messaging. Customer service especially, remains a key element of sales.

This method gives marketers the opportunity to differentiate themselves over competitors and create an emotional connection with buyers. This is especially important to e-commerce since most consumers do their shopping research and purchasing online. ​

By focusing marketing efforts on these key elements, brands can increase their appeal to women. This vital demographic could be key to increasing brand loyalty and sales.

I do agree with your thoughts. Marketing to the opposite gender is really difficult. You have to be a woman yourself, in order to understand their likes and dislikes. I should probably follow your advice and apply it to my business. Marketing, as a whole, is a very large industry. I should carefully analyze each variable within my market.

Thanks for your input! Understanding marketing tactics to reach women does not require you to be a woman, yourself. Despite what gender you are, understanding your audience and untapped markets will lead to marketing success for your business. For example, if you are trying to appeal to children, it does not require you to be a child to successfully market to that particular audience. It is discovering what your target audience wants, needs and expects from a company, and delivering such in order to gain their trust, interest and loyalty.
